We understand there are many questions regarding the upcoming school year. Our goal is to provide face to face instruction as close to a regular schedule as soon as it is allowed. Currently public health officials, the State Department of Education and the AccelerateED task force have provided guidelines and recommendations for school districts to follow to ensure health, safety, and wellness of students and staff. According to these guidelines and recommendations and due to high-spread of Covid-19 in our community, a regular Monday through Friday traditional return to school model may not be allowed at this time. We will closely monitor any changes or additions to the guidelines and recommendations and apply those changes as needed. Therefore, we are proposing alternative models that follow those guidelines. Is it our goal to provide parents with choices they believe best suit their child and family, while adhering to safety guidelines provided to districts.
Although we are still in the planning phase, District Six would like to share the information we have at this time regarding possible models for reopening schools. This will allow parents time to plan, have your questions answered, and also give you an opportunity to share feedback with us.
As you are aware, the 2020-2021 school year poses very unique challenges. I am sure that with determination, support, and flexibility our students, parents, and staff can make this year successful. As always, we want our students and staff safe. We will continue to monitor and adjust as we receive additional information from our public health officials.
We also realize you may have questions, suggestions, and input regarding the possibilities for the upcoming school year. As always, District Six welcomes your feedback and has created an email address solely dedicated to answering any of your questions in response to our Roadmap to Reopening plans. Please feel free to email any questions to email@example.com and be sure to include your contact information.
Please understand that these are uncharted waters we are all navigating, but safety is always our top priority. We will be meeting with teachers, staff, parents and students for input as we chart our path forward. July 27th is the day designated by the SC State Department of Education to notify parents for final decisions about schedules for starting school in August. As always, thank you for your support and understanding. Please enjoy the rest of your summer and stay safe.
